This is another post for the outfielders. We all know you need to talk, but there is a lot more to talking then just calling a fly ball.
One thing I think is very important is letting the other outfielders know where to go. If you are in right field and there is a ball in the gap that gets down and the center fielder calls it, instead of the stopping on the play or just backing him up you should be talking. Now that you know you are not going to get the ball you can see the play and watch it develop so you should be yelling where to go. Is there going to be a play at the plate? let him know that way when he fields it he knows to look for the middle of the field for the cutoff man. Is the play going to second or third? tell him so he knows. You will cut down on extra steps for the runner simply by talking because the center fielder can focus on catching the ball and getting rid of it, not where he has to throw it once he catches it.
