Pre Game Warm Up: 4 Corners

This is a great drill do get kids used to getting the ball in and out of their clove.  You can use the four corner drill with underhand flips and overhand throws.  The drill works just like it sounds to start.  For the underhand flips you put 8 kids in a group (two in each corner) and you have them flip the ball underhand to the left like.  Use the form we talked about in earlier posts.  The reason you need 8 players is because the player has to follow their throw.  After the players go that direction for a while you have them turn it around and use the flip the second basemans use.  We talked about both flip mechanics in earlier posts.  After the players do the flips for a while you can have them split up into 2 groups and do overhand throws like an overhand double play toss.

This is a good drill to get the ball in and out of the kids glove and work on hitting the guy in the chest.  The guy receiving the ball works on catching the ball between his shoulders with two hands.

This is not only a good pregame drill it is good at practice at well.  You can use this drill for the infielders while the outfielders work on the two ball drill.

Let me know what you think.
