Pitchers Holding Runners: Response from Doug Mirabelli

Doug Mirabelli joined the conversation about holding runners and here is what he has to say:

These are all really good points. And I think a combination of all these techniques should be applied. But if the goal is to keep the runner from stealing second, you need to get the runner diving back into first base. So by having quick feet and a quick release like a catcher, you can get keep the runner from trying to steal for fear you might pick him off. This is something pitchers are going to have to work on, most likely, on their own time. But these little things can make a difference.
